Carbohydrate Metabolism by Pseudomonas Fluorescens
MacGee and Doudoroff (2) have gained evidence in support of the postulated scheme by recovering the product of Reaction 1 as a crystalline trisodium salt and establishing its structure as Na3-2-keto-3-deoxy-6-phosphogluconate+2Hz0. Extracts of Pseudomonas Jluorescens catalyze the cleavage of 6-PG to pyruvate and triose phosphate at a rate 10 times faster than the rate of 6-PG dehydrogenase acti...
متن کاملPlasmid Involvement in Linalool Metabolism by Pseudomonas fluorescens.
A bacterial strain was isolated from a wastewater lagoon and identified as Pseudomonas fluorescens. This isolate was able to utilize linalool as a sole carbon and energy source. The ability was found to be encoded on a 60-megadalton transmissible plasmid, pSRQ60. The plasmid was also mated into a commercial waste treatment strain, which expanded its ability to utilize other isoprenoid compounds.
متن کاملDeriving Trigger Values For, and Assessing Hazard Posed By, Volatile Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in a Sydney Estuary
The hazard of adverse effects to aquatic organisms arising from groundwater contaminated with a complex mixture of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHCs) discharging to Penrhyn Estuary, Sydney, Australia was determined using the hazard quotient (HQ) method. The hazard posed by 14 volatile CHCs acting individually and collectively as a mixture was assessed. The hazard was determined using meas...
متن کاملSequential application of electron donors and humic acids for the anaerobic bioremediation of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons.
In situ anaerobic bioremediation of chlorinated solvents such as perchloroethene (PCE) frequently faces the problem of accumulating toxic, lower chlorinated compounds such as dichloroethene (cis-DCE) and vinyl chloride (VC). In the present study, the efficacy of the sequential application of electron donors, supporting reductive dechlorination, and of humic acids, acting as extracellular electr...
متن کاملCarbohydrate Oxidation by Pseudomonas Fluorescens
Glucose oxidation by Pseudomonas Jluorescens (1) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (2) has been shown to proceed via gluconate to 2-ketogluconate without the involvement of phosphorylated intermediates. 2-Ketogluconate is oxidized further in growing cultures (3) and resting cell suspensions (4), but attempts to obtain dried cell preparations or cell-free extracts which oxidize 2-ketogluconate have bee...
